What is up with the teleporter?

The teleporter was created by Dr. Raul Salvidor, a Cuban national, in Panama in 1959.  Dr. Salvidor was a briliant alchemist specializing in physics.  After building forty one of the machines, several attempts to both recruit and assassinate him were made by the US, USSR, and Cuban governments.  Not wanting his creation to be the weapon that turned the cold war hot, Dr. Salvidor gave all but one of his machines to G.O. (who had previously officially declined to aid either side in the cold war) then tragically drank himself to death.

What is G.O.?

G.O. is a coalition of warriors, magicians, blondes, and friendly paranormals who keep order among the paranormal forces acting upon this world.  Notice that they maintain order- not ballance, not the forces of good, not even human life (although as a general policy they like to save as much of it as they can)- just the status quo.  G.O.'s goals are simple; they keep any paranormal force from dominating or destroying this world.  No one is sure exactly when, where, or how G.O. started or how powerful it is today.  All that is known for sure is that it opperates within every country on Earth outside of those counties' laws and whether the countries want them there or not- kind of like wal mart.

Why is Hugh a teetotaler?

As was stated in Hugh's bio, he has an extremely fast acting and thourough metabolism.  This extremely efficient metabolism means that when Hugh drinks, not only does his liver absorb more alcohol; it absorbs it faster, doing tremendous damage to the organ.  Of course with his regeneration Hugh could regrow his liver many tens of times quicker than a human could, but the process of destroying and rebuilding your liver is extremely unpleasant, and the alchohol just is not worth it.

Expository?

I have started this new tab called “expository” to explain some aspects and factoids about the G.O. universe that, while not particularly germane to the story, are none the less sort of interesting.  Please enjoy!
